This week we interviewed seven highly motivated local high school students keen to gain work placements in the mining industry - the interviews are part of the Pre-Apprenticeships in Schools (PAIS) program at North Regional TAFE.

The students from Karratha Senior High School and St Luke's College Karratha are seeking work placements in the mining industry, with a focus on Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships.

This program is part of a State Government initiative to deliver further social and economic benefits to the Pilbara region, in partnership with The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CMEWA) and member companies such as CITIC Pacific Mining – developer and operator of Sino Iron, 100km south of Karratha.

Interviewers walked away from the experience confident that the industry’s future’s in very good hands! Good luck to all interviewees.
