Among a record number of nominees for the City of Karratha’s FUTURECLUBS Community Sports Awards, Leanne Mott has emerged the 2019 winner of the CITIC Pacific Mining Volunteer of the Year category.

The annual awards recognise players, coaches, officials and volunteers who have made a significant contribution to their sporting code and community life in the Pilbara.

This year there was a record 77 nominations for the nine award categories.

Leanne claimed the Volunteer of the Year category, in part for her “time and effort towards the resurgence and success of the Nor West Jockey Club’s 2019 racing season” and her work in “negotiating the SKY Network coverage of the City of Karratha Ladies’ Day and all four racing events in 2020.”

The City of Karratha’s FUTURECLUBS development program offers support and assistance to local sporting clubs and associations.
