The Karlayura Rodeo is the successful recipient of Round 1 funding through the 2025 CITIC Pacific Mining’s Community Support Fund (CCSF).
The $5000 grant will support the Roebourne Rodeo - a community event dedicated to celebrating Indigenous culture, showcasing rodeo talent and boosting local tourism.
The Rodeo is expected to draw visitors from across the region and beyond, promoting tourism in the City of Karratha and showcasing the Pilbara’s rich culture through traditional performances and community engagement.
The event takes place on Saturday 9 August 2025.
The rodeo will also serve as a platform for local talent, offering aspiring rodeo athletes the opportunity to compete, develop their skills, and gain recognition, while fostering community engagement.
With the addition of Karlayura Rodeo, a total of 19 Pilbara-based projects and organisations have benefited from the small grants program since its inception in 2021.
The CCSF has two rounds of funding each year with grants up to $5000 (inclusive of GST) available per application and is made possible by CPM’s Containers for Change recycling initiative, which reinvests funds raised from drink container recycling at the Sino Iron Cape Preston operations into community projects.
Focus areas for grant funding are:
• Education and training
• Healthy, active lifestyles
• Cultural learning and exchange
• Environmental responsibility
• Youth support and development.
Congratulations to our Round 1 of the CCSF recipient for 2025.
