CPM Mental Health Campaign Raises $110,000 for beyondblue
- Details
More than $110,000 will be donated to leading community mental health group beyondblue, following a successful month-long fundraising initiative by CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM) staff and contractors at the Sino Iron project.
The initiative not only aimed to raise much-needed funds for beyondblue but also promoted positive mental health across the company.
Among the fundraising activities, staff and contractors bought custom bright blue PPE and polo shirts (with a matching donation by CPM). A major raffle and silent auction was also held. More than $30,000 worth of prizes were donated by the company’s contractors.
They included Back to Basic’s Electrical Group, Monadelphous, Kerman Contracting, Kone Cranes, Karridale Group and Tangibility.
CPM Chief Executive Officer Chen Zeng said the support of staff and contractors had been overwhelming.
“Clearly this is an issue which strikes a chord right across the community,” Mr Zeng said.
“I’m very proud of the efforts of our staff and contractors in achieving this fantastic result and putting a strong emphasis on how we can all improve mental health outcomes.”
beyondblue Chief Executive Georgie Harman congratulated CPM for its commitment to good mental health in the workplace and support for beyondblue’s work.
"This generous donation will help us continue our important work promoting understanding of the signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety, and providing direct support to individuals and families,” Ms Harman said.
“This includes through our Support Service, which is available by phone 24/7 on 1300 22 4636 or via webchat (3PM-midnight AEST) or email at www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support.
“Not only has CPM raised a huge amount of money, but by speaking openly about depression and anxiety, they are helping to break down stigma, both in their workplaces and in the wider community, which makes it easier for people to get help when they need it.
“We particularly love the big truck they painted blue to raise awareness of beyondblue.”
Mr Zeng will present a cheque for $110,000 to beyondblue, at a special presentation in the Perth office next week.
