Community groups and not-for-profit organisations in the Pilbara region can now apply for the second round of CITIC Pacific Mining’s (CPM) small grants program.

Assistance of up to $5000 per application is available through the recently established CPM Community Support Fund (CCSF) Grants Program, with two funding rounds each year.

The current round is now open and applications close 28 February 2022. Local organisations meeting the selection criteria are encouraged to apply online.

The program targets groups or projects primarily based in the Pilbara/City of Karratha region including Karratha, Roebourne, Wickham, Point Samson, Dampier and Cossack.

Focus areas for the CCSF are:
· Education and training
· Healthy, active lifestyles
· Cultural learning and exchange
· Environmental responsibility
· Youth support and development.

Deposit returns from CPM’s Containers for Change recycling initiative at its Sino Iron magnetite operation at Cape Preston primarily fund the CCSF Grants Program.

In partnership with local business North West Recycling, CPM’s Container Recycling Program was a finalist in the 2021 WA Government Waste Sorted Awards for the Best Regional Waste Initiative.

More than one million containers have already been diverted from landfill as a result of the initiative.
