The Sino Iron Project has achieved a major milestone as its first ship is being loaded with magnetite concentrate to sail for China.
Operating at the Port of Cape Preston, the first port to be built in the Pilbara in 40 years, barge loaders carried magnetite concentrate product to a ship moored offshore. The first shipment will head to CITIC Pacific’s special steel mill in Jiangsu province, China.
To mark this occasion, a ceremony was held, attended by Premier Colin Barnett MLA, Consul General Mr. Huang Qinguo of the Chinese Consulate in Perth, the Chairman of CITIC Group Mr. Chang Zhenming, the President of CITIC Pacific Mr. Zhang Jijing, the Chairman of MCC Mr. Guo Wenqing and workers and contractors.
